The Trail of the Lonesome Pine is a 1908 romance novel/western novel written by John Fox, Jr.. The novel became Fox's most successful, and was included among the top ten list of bestselling novels for 1908 and 1909.

Set in the Appalachian Mountains at the turn of the twentieth century, a feud has been boiling for over thirty years between two influential mountain families: the Tollivers and the Falins. The outside world and industrialization, however, is beginning to enter the area. Coal mining begins to exert its influence on the area, despite of the two families feuds. Entering the area, enterprising "furriner" (foreigner) John Hale captures the attention of the beautiful June Tolliver, and inadvertently becomes entangled in the region's politics. Great book

(5 étoiles)

Usually Libravox books read by multiple readers are quite bad, but all of the readers of this book, with the exception of one very short chapter, are excellent, and the book is terrific. Highly recommend!

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to take away from this. I spent the entire last chapter waiting on a phantom shot to take out the protagonist. it's an ok book but it's in the weird area where it is not quite a western and not quite modern.

Nice love story, especially the first part where they adored each as as the adult and the little girl.

5 star all the way!
