Brisk clever surprising fun - complete with annoying organ breaks!

(5 étoiles)

This was a briefly-aired show that focused on 15 minutes of "The Unexpected" - a twist ending to varied stories. And it really is fun, surprising, and very fresh even 60+ years later. Organ music takes place 3 times per episode, at 30 seconds to a minute each segment. There are no words - presumably the organ was background filler for an announcer's voiceover of commercials. Yes, the organ grates. But who cares? This really was a charming show, and if you like Lorene Tuttle, she is splendid in this one. Brassy and full of life. This show shares that quality.

Organ Main Theme Used In "North by Northwest" Movie

(4 étoiles)

Ah! The organ theme here, which was used as fill for commercials, was the love theme cue used in the movie North by Northwest." Now then, the cue isn't necessarily by Bernard Herrmann, folks, even though he wrote the main theme to N/NW. In fact, cues from production libraries were used in N/NW in addition to Herrmann's. I'm just saying, I heard the same cue here. :)
