Daniel Webster's Carriage


Daniel Webster's Carriage is a fascinating saga of Wisconsin history, focusing on an old relic housed in the State Historical Museum. This carriage, once displayed at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, was originally purchased in London in 1808 and has a rich history, having been owned by the notable figure Daniel Webster.

The carriage gained popularity as a significant historical artifact, with many prominent figures of Webster's time, including Martin Van Buren and Henry Clay, having ridden in it. This program was written and presented by students of the NYA radio workshop at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, providing them with a platform to showcase their writing and dramatic talents.
