Aus 11 - Thanks For The Memory ( Bob Machliss)
A Collection of Aussie Radio Shows No 11 Bob Machliss presented a program called "Thanks for the Memory" on Melbourne radio station 3DB in the late 1980's. The Radio station was undergoing much change at the time and finally in 1988 the call sign changed to 3TT with new personnel and a new sound. Bob was for quite some time President of the Victorian Bing Crosby Society and sadly passed away from Motor Neurone Disease in April 1993. These episodes of Thanks for the Memory with Bob Machliss are from late 1986 into 1987. It is quite clear that Bob loved to play his 78's live to air, and must have kept his panel operator, Frank McKay, quite busy for three hours on Sunday evenings. Most interesting to hear the news events that were happening at that time. There are some gaps in the programs where reel changes occurred, or tape damage was evident, but by and large a nice memory of this music man..Bob Machliss. These recordings have been acquired from publicly available sources on the Internet, and my goal has been to put together a collection of every available episode where possible. I will add to these collections if I discover new episodes or if any new episodes become available. Additionally, while I tried to put together a collection that contains the best version of each episode that I could, there may be better copies of some recordings available from collectors and dealers, and I encourage you to reach out to them if you are so inclined. If they are not in the public domain, notify me and they will be deleted.
