Screen Guild Theater - Why Jack Benny Will Not Appear On The Program
Join the legendary Jack Benny and a star-studded cast in this delightful episode of the Screen Guild Theater. In "Why Jack Benny Will Not Appear On The Program," Benny finds himself in a humorous predicament as he tries to insert himself into a production featuring Hollywood greats like Barbara Stanwyck and Basil Rathbone. The episode showcases the ensemble's comedic talents as they navigate Benny's over-the-top ego and the chaos that ensues.
This performance is not just a showcase of talent but also a testament to the spirit of generosity, with proceeds supporting the Motion Picture Relief Fund. The clever script, originally penned by Benny's writers Bill Morrow and Ed Beloin, is a fine example of Hollywood's self-parody, making it a must-listen for fans of classic radio comedy.

& I got a big kick out of the photo posted of Benny and Mary "Livingstone". The story on how they met is pretty neat too. She had a big crush on him from when she was oh, I think 14? 15? at a family dinner party and she put in her mind he is the man she is going to marry. LOVE Jack Benny. He's brilliant.
