Mandel Kramer does a fine job as Johnny Dollar
Den NC USA
If you're new to the entire cannon of Johnny Dollar recordings, I want to simply tell you that Mandel Kramer is generally regarded as, along with Bob Bailey, the best of the actors playing the role. He's tough, smart, serious and by this time in the large arc of the series, the smart, punning dialogue of the earlier show (circa the first half of the Charles Russell... reminding me of the short-lived (sadly) Thin Man radio show and films) is mostly gone, giving instead strong, realistic action-packed drama. And a real guy doing his job, whatever that might be, with whomever happens to be a part of the Matter at hand. He can be friendly, or tough. Or both. At that, Kramer plays it right down the center, and he's as good as Bob Bailey, IMHO, although I grew up as a kid listening to both actors, and really am glad I did. Now they serve me well at the ripe-old-age of 75. The action is just as round, and firm and fully-packed. Enjoy Mandel Kramer as..."Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar."
