"Claudia" is a drama based on the stories from Redbook magazine, featuring the characters Claudia and David, played by Patricia Ryan and Richard Kollmar. The series began as a skit on the Kate Smith Hour on June 6, 1941, and quickly evolved into a summer series. The narrative revolves around Claudia's love for David during her teenage years, exploring the everyday challenges of life, including financial struggles and household repairs.

The romance between Claudia and David was developed through skits on the Smith show, culminating in their wedding at City Hall in the second regular episode on July 11, 1941. This particular collection features the 1947-1948 syndicated program, which starred Kathryn Bard as Claudia and Paul Crabtree as David.

Too much of a good thing

(2 stars)

One of the good things about OTR, compared to modern broadcast entertainment, is the positive tone of most drama and comedy. Entertainment was meant to be an escape from the bleakness of life, not an amplification of bleakness. But this show demonstrates that you can have too much of a good thing. Claudia is a nice bumbling wife, David is a nice tolerant husband, and Mom is always right there to make up for Claudia's bumbling in the nicest possible way. Enough niceness! Somebody needs to lay down the law once in a while!

I can theoretically see why someone would like this show, and the sound is pretty good, but sour jelly on a whole wheat biscuit, this was nothing but sickly sweet blech from start to finish.
