Good collection

I really enjoyed this collection of stories. The dwarf's chamber really reflects the different perspective of people then and now, while also solving a neat mystery. The rest of the stories are likewise excellent. Reading was fine, recordings were also fine.
Enjoyable

Loved the Dwarf story...and the others.
Fun Stories

I liked this collection and it showed me a different more light-hearted side to Fergus Hume. I have read several of his lengthy novels, so it was nice to read something much shorter, and much less morbid as he can be in some of his long mysteries at times. especially liked the first and longest one, "The Dwarf's Chamber" and enjoyed all the others that were shorter and simpler. They also were not morbid as some of his lengthy mysteries can be at times. Readers did an excellent job. Thank you.
HUME AS A MASTER OF THE SHORT STORY

HUME seems to excel with the short story; this collection is great. Of course, the novelette is the centerpiece and it is superb. Every family needs a Madame Tot. Wales always narrates well!
Great selection

Really liked the first story - a nice bit of fantasy and thank you Mr Wales for your lovely narration and for pronouncing 'Warwick' correctly 😀

Great reader! First story was the best!
Fantastical tales, unreal but lively.

The author's repeated insistence that these tales prove that "truth is stranger than fiction" sounds quite silly given the unrealistic premises of his stories. These tales are quite fantastic but still engaging. Rollicking yarns, as it were. Not great stories, but good. The reading is mostly clear and audible. In one story however, the narrator attempts a strong cockney accent. To me it sounds like someone whose tongue is numb from the dentist. I couldn't make out the words. Unfortunate.
