In the six volumes of the Library of the World's Best Mystery and Detective Stories, Julian Hawthorne presents us thrilling and mysterious short stories from all corners of the world. Some of the stories appeared in this collection for the first time translated into English, and many of them come from unexpected sources, such as the letters of Pliny the Younger, or a Tibetan manuscript. In the fifth volume, we find stories written by German, Russian and Scandinavian authors. (Summary by Leni) (11 hr 0 min)

well read

(3 Sterne)

all very well read stories. good readers, easy to understand. consistently good sound quality. my problem lie with the mystery, detective elements. it's my first time with this collection and I'm afraid I'm just not very impressed. seems more like a random collection of not very interesting stories. and very few detective ones, which is what I was looking for. but thank you to the readers anyway. your work is still greatly appreciated.

Very good mystery collection!

Thus far, vol. 5 is the most consistently enjoyable volume I've read in the 6-volume series. I especially enjoyed Lars Rolander's narration. Overall the readers were excellent, and the audio quality was great, with the exception of some trivial noise in a couple of the recordings. There are no stories that I felt I couldn't listen to because of the quality. If you like mystery stories, give this book a try because these are well written stories you most likely have not read before.

interesting stories

There are some good stories in this book. The narration is mostly very good. The form of the mystery writing is different to what we would expect in a contemporary novel, and as ever with these period works, the social commentary is as interesting as the tale. interesting enough. Thank you to the readers.

Lars Rolander is the best narrator, hands down. Love these stories.

probably the best of the 5 volumes I've listened to
