Variety Sketches performed by English comedian Jimmy Clitheroe The first item is a single sketch from the radio variety series Blackpool Night transmitted 18th June 1966 on the BBC Light Programme. Unfortunately incomplete. 186 Kbps Mono. Also the recently found North Star Parade , originally broadcast January 20th 1966 on the North of England regional transmitters of the Home Service. It had its only national broadcast on 11th April 1966 on the Light Programme. A long lost variety show, produced in Manchester by James Casey - WILFRED PICKLES introduces ALBERT MODLEY, RONNIE HILTON, EDDIE CALVERT, JIMMY CLITHEROE, DANNY ROSS, BARBARA ROBOTHAM, PETER GOODWRIGHT, and THE BARRY SISTERS. Also available on this website is the script for a radio sketch from 1956 starring Jimmy Clitheroe. This sketch, written by James Casey or Ronnie Taylor, known as the Cricket Sketch, is from an edition of the radio variety series Blackpool Night transmitted on 18th July 1956 on the BBC Light Programme. The scan was kindly provided by Jimmy's cousin Irene, and derives from Jimmy Clitheroe's personal archives. The audio items presented here do not survive in the BBC archive. They are rescued from recordings made by listeners in the 1960s, from recently discovered off-air tapes.
