B. M. Bower
This is an action-packed tale of the old west with richly drawn characters including the notorious Butch Cassidy, most of them upstanding but some decidedly not. A cashier is murdered during a bank robbery. The loot and the thieves are sought with dark concerns about who may be guilty. Family ties, ranch life, humor, and romance are interwoven throughout. B. M. Bower was one of the first women to write novels and short stories about the American Old West, of which more than 10 were adapted as films. (Summary by Lee Smalley) (6 hr 28 min)

Beautifully read, really enjoyed it, thank you.
Enjoyable Western Until Last Chapter

The narrator was fantastic (5stars!) and the story was highly enjoyable until the end. The last chapter is when things got very confusing and wrapped up in a hasty and unsatisfactory manner. I don’t understand Snowball’s testimony. It is unclear what happened to the thousands of dollars previously mentioned in the book. If anyone has the answer to this question, perhaps you can comment in this section? Thank you

Interesting, but very confusing about snowballs testimony of only finding for five dollars when they should’ve been thousands there. Anyway of getting a response?

For the life of me, I cannot understand the last chapter of this book! It sounds like some chapters are missing before and after the last chapter, “Snowball Testifies.” I wish LibriVox offered two “star ratings”, one for the book and one for the Reader. Mr. Smalley would receive a solid five star rating from me. He would make the reading of a Chicago telephone book most enjoyable. Ms. Bowers is an excellent author and I feel that someone has done her an injustice in preparing her book for a audiobook format. NOTE: My half-star rating is not meant to reflect on the author nor the reader
