Ripping yarn read by one of the best on LibriVox. Also an interesting window onto life during World War 1, complete with some disturbing attitudes towards physical disability commonplace at the time. Can see the embers that would lead to the holocaust in this novel by a then well-known journalist.

Well crafted thriller which flows quickly through the many twists with just the right amount of details that paint a picture without getting the listener bogged down. It is extremely well read by the author who obviously has gifts of language and pace. Wish there were more stories by Valentine Williams!

This fast paced, action packed story captivated me even though this type of book is not my preference. I was surprised and pleased. Highly recommend! Although there are some prejudicial references to certain social groups and stereotypes, none are out of context with prevailing views at the time of writing.
Thrilling story, excellently read.

This is the 1st book that I've listened to by this author and could hardly "put it down". I look forward to enjoying more from this author. Mark Nelson does a superb job reading as usual.
