The Gaming Gang October Spooktacular 2022 10/14 Quiet, Please: Adam And The Dar…
Jeff McAleer
Tonight it's time for another first time listen on the Spooktacular. I've talked before about how the underappreciated Quiet, Please was such a unique style of radio program at a time when there weren't a ton of series devoted exclusively to science fiction or horror. Much of the credit must go to Wyllis Cooper who was also the mastermind behind Lights Out, which had launched in the 1930s. Cooper's stories would tend to feel far more grounded and realistic than some of the more over the top spook tales of the time. On this edition of the Spooktacular we're taken to the city of Chicago, where I was born and raised, in the aftermath of a great war which has decimated the planet. Should the human race continue or is time to accept the inevitable? Turn out the lights, sit back, and give a listen to Adam and the Darkest Day on Quiet Please as it aired on November 7th, 1948.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
