A widely publicized and unsolved murder of five and twenty years is brought to the forefront in a best-selling novel entitled “A Whim of Fate". While Spencer Tait is looking forward to reading it, his best friend Claude Larcher, learns of the tragic death of his father which mirrors every detail of the new book. Not believing it to be a coincidence the two friends resolve to discover what truly happened so many years ago and who committed the vile act. As they delve deeper into the past, the motives, the evidence, and the list of potential suspects becomes so confusing that a solution to the mystery seems impossible. Will they ever know WHO killed Georges Larcher???? - Summary by Celine Major (8 hr 58 min)

The reader
The book has more twists and turns than spiral macaroni and while I had, for once figured out the biggest bad person, I had to continue to listen to end. I take my hat off to the awesome readers who are professional enough to get the old fashioned words correctly and know the reason for punctuation marks and how they are voiced. Thanks

Very long story with a lot of twist and turns. There is also a love story as is usual with this writer. The story is also tragic. Nobody gets what they want except the main personage.

This novel must certainly be in the Guinness Book for the record of twists and turns. It is very enjoyable to hear Celine's firm enunciation as we meet the characters two or three times. Be prepared to be surprised repeatedly, and do not take everyone's name for granted.
really really good

Loved the book .. couldn’t put it down… the characters were like able and surprising. Many twists. I hope it wasn’t Tate’s last detective work as he stated. I will read more of author Fergus Hume if available!!

So many twists and turns, keeping your interest and not frustrating as if they’re turning in circles, but finding more developments on the way. Very well read and well worth listening to!
you'll need a scorecard!

A good read, but tough to keep all the characters straight, especially when the names of the characters in the novel in the story get thrown in.

Very fun mystery. I usually don’t get surprised by mysteries, so it was fun to get a few surprises!!
