Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

From the beginning of their covenant relationship, God was constantly speaking to the Israelites in prophetic pictures and metaphorical language. Through the Law and the ancient rituals, God was revealing His nature and character, as well as pointing them toward the promise of redemption through Jesus Christ. In addition, the prophets would often point to the things in nature that were communicating Godâs messages to the people. One of the natural elements that was used consistently in the Scriptures was snow. Snow was a common occurrence in the Promised Land, especially in and around the mountainous regions. There are 23 Biblical references to snow, which mostly provide us a picture of purity. In addition, snow also represented: the awesomeness of God, the work of His Word, a warning against sin, a context for ministry, and the power of forgiveness. These prophetic messages from snowfall were used by God to aid the people in their covenant relationship with Him. In the same way, we should embrace snow as a means of grace in our spiritual lives. While it can disrupt our routines, it is designed by God to stop us in our tracks, remind us of His forgiveness, and point us toward the purity of Jesus Christ. Snow is a Gift from God!
