a lovely take of a simpler time

As a Maine girl myself, I had an extra special appreciation for this story of two young women who spent a summer in a quaint Maine fishing village. The times were simpler, though harder for many folks. The real charm of the book is in the author's ability to paint the character and genuineness of the people and the country with her words. I felt like I was there with the two girls myself, and it was hard sometimes to come back to the cold reality of a Maine winter after capering with them through the woods and over the beaches during a Maine summer. Can't wait to read the next book I can find by this wonderful author. The reader did a very fine job as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this "read"!

The Reader is near perfect at reading this book. The story is well written and read to give you a sense that you’re there. You’re living the story.
