The Long, Long Trail
Gelesen von David Wales
Max Brand
A willful flirtatious girl; a morose family; a dark, mysterious, and (to some) alluring man; lots of horses, guns, honor, love, courage, and treachery in this 1921 pulp western. Max Brand was known for going well beyond the formulaic western. The Long Long Trail is an excellent example of his craft.- Summary by david wales (7 hr 23 min)

Lone Cowboy
This story has it all: gruff old cattle barons, dishonest power-hungry ego driven lawnen, an honest outlaw by circumstance, a wild younf lady no ordinary man can tame and inbred hillbilly trash. Much more entertaining than many of Max Brand's books.
l love it could not stop listening.

Different style reader than I’m used to. The reader helped bring the characters to life even if in a subtle way. I will check for more books by this reader to listen to.
Suspenseful!

Typical Brand novel-beautiful woman, tough, smart, good hearted gunman, fabulous horse, but the last 10 or so chapters had me on the edge of my seat. Ending left you guessing.

Well read... text, well written, an honorable villain...light romance...sudden drop off at the end...left me disappointed
Max Brand is confusing

Why does he keep cutting the stories short at the end.
Brand's Builds Entertaining Characters and Actions

David Wales voice and reading is perfect! Brand can think up more unusual characters, the things they do, and the things that happen to them! I like the way he shows the insightful thoughts of his characters. This has good men, bad men, good women and bad women, and sometimes it is the same person! All the horses are good! This kept me glued to the end! The ending leaves it to you to imagine what happens to the protagonists.

I enjoyed it. A lot of that weird honour of hard men which is sometimes a bit confusing to a modern reader maybe. But the story is one of interesting people doing interesting things.
