Project Mastodon

Read by Phil Chenevert

(4.1 stars; 195 reviews)

Clifford Simak deals with the implications of time travel in his own unique way in this story. What if a group of guys did it on their own, without any help from government or industry? On a shoestring,so to speak? Would anyone believe them? What would you do if you could go back 150,000 years to a time when mastodons and saber toothed tigers roamed North America? And what happens when they run out of money? All these questions are explored in the usual humorous, wry Simak way in this story. (1 hr 11 min)

Interesting story

(3.5 stars)

I enjoyed the story but didn't quite get the ending. From a Geek point of view, would have liked some explanation of the 'science', but it is after all Simak. Good reader.

Great reading, average story

Time travel tales can have some obvious issues and this one has plenty. It’s a fair tale and it’s read well

Classic but?

(3.5 stars)

Was the ending really meant to abruptly end like it did? Phil is the best narrator for these classic sci-fi stories.

A fun story read by one of my favourite readers. Ending leaves a little to be desired but the journey is fun!

interesting

(3 stars)

An enjoyable and well read novella. I just wish the ending had been less abrupt and a little more fulfilling.

silly story

(2.5 stars)

Perhaps the story wouldn’t have seemed so silly if the reader had used a different tone of voice.
