Carlo Collodi
Read by LibriVox Volunteers
The Adventures of Pinocchio is a novel for children by Italian author Carlo Collodi (here transl. by Carol della Chiesa). The first half was published in serial form between 1881 and 1883, and then completed as a book for children in February 1883. It is about the mischievous adventures of Pinocchio, an animated marionette, and his poor father, a woodcarver named Geppetto. It is considered a classic of children’s literature and has spawned many derivative works of art, such as Disney’s classic 1940 animated movie of the same name, and commonplace ideas, such as a liar’s long nose.

Worth a listen by young and old.

I am looking for audio books to share with children with who are illiterate or slow readers. Remembering the Disney cartoon from my youth I thought Pinocchio might be a good choice. I'm a 62 year old man who was completely taken with this dark story. Consider this early science fiction - talking wood, a crafty cricket, a fairy and children that changes form. Way cool. The sound quality of this project varies but the story will keep you wanting more. Enjoy.

Having each chapter read by a different person was not ideal. Due to that factor I would not recommend this audio book.

I am familiar with the story but never really read the whole book so I tried it. I find it really hard to finish the book because I was so annoyed with Pinocchio and I kind of thought maybe this also the reason the voice actors on this story switches because they can't too lol but I still did finish it anyway and I certainly didn't regret it! The storyline and turn of events really touched my heart. All of the voice actors was really careful on how they deliver the words especially when it's a verbatim and oh also the part when Pinocchio hear the "pi pi pi zum zum" thing if not for these audiobook I wouldn't have idea what that tune was like seriously. But I also agree that it's better if no switching of voice actors, still a good job tho :))

Very good! Suitable for all ages, and a great way to get young children interested in classic literature. Stays fun no matter how many times you listen to it… Listen with your child / younger sibling, there are parts that a small child may not realize the implications of (Example: When Pinocchio buries his gold in the Field Of Wonders, edged on by the fox and the cat, the gold vanishes, and the fox and cat disappear…). Great story, no problems with it at all!
Amazing :)

Love this story. An actual classic. It will never go out of style, I feel sure. I’ve listened to this since I was a toddler basically, and it’s a source of great comfort to me. I recommend it as much as it is possible to recommend something.
loved the reading
