The Lives of the Queens of England Volume 12
Agnes Strickland
Read by Ann Boulais

The Lives of the Queens of England is a multi-volumed work attributed to Agnes Strickland, though it was mostly researched and written by her sister Elisabeth. These volumes give biographies of the queens of England from the Norman Conquest in 1066. Although by today's standards, it is not seen as a very scholarly work, the Stricklands used many sources that had not been used before.
Volume twelve includes the biography of Anne, from 1700 to her death in 1714. (17 hr 51 min)

Puzzling but Interesting

Who’s Telling the Truth? The Dutchess of Marlborough or Horace Walpole, about Queen Anne? Did she suck so many chocolates that her “coffin was almost square?” It’s not clear. The reader Anne Boulais does a good job of recording it all in an even tone of voice which was very clear and welcome.
