Room 101 with Paul Merton Returning in its original one-to-one incarnation, Paul Merton interviews a variety of guests from the world of comedy and entertainment to find out what they would banish to Room 101 as well as the one item they cannot live without. The series originally began on BBC Radio 5 in 1992 with Nick Hancock, and then transferred to television in 1994, with Merton taking over as host between 1999 and 2007. Frank Skinner did a revised TV version from 2012 to 2018.
