Brian Jones The Rolling Stone

4

Brian Jones the Rolling Stone 1943-1969 is a compelling program that tells the story of Brian Jones, a founding member of the Rolling Stones. Written and introduced by Michael Wale, this program explores the life and career of Jones, who met a tragically early death.

With contributions from notable figures such as Michael Aldred, Ray Coleman, Lewis Jones, Alexis Korner, Les Perrin, Cliff Richard, and Don Short, the program raises the poignant question: does the world of pop music destroy the very idols it helps to create?

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

Reviews

great

Excellent short documentary on Brian, with enlightening contributions from Brian's father, Mick Jagger and Alexis Korner. Near-contemporary with Brian's death, about two years afterward, so vital in that respect. No insight on the circumstances of his death as such, though Jones Sr describes him as in a positive mood on the previous day. An accident is credible, though it seems suspicious to me - but we will never know the truth at this stage. Unique versions of Satisfaction and The Last Time top and tail the programme - maybe BBC radio sessions?
