Behind the Smile - the Real Life of Bob Marley features Brinsley Forde reassessing the personal side of reggae great Bob Marley, who passed away in 1981 at the age of 36, just six years after his first UK hit, "No Woman No Cry." This program includes early, previously unaired archive interviews and unreleased recordings with Marley's band, the Wailers.

Listeners will hear insights from Bunny Wailer, a sparring partner at a Trenchtown gym, musicians Derrick Harriot and Prince Jazzbo, DJ Big Youth, producer and former prime minister of Jamaica Edward Seaga, and Chris Blackwell. The program was produced by Simon Poole and aired on BBC Radio 2.
