On Sunday, March 12th, 1967, the largest crowd ever attended an outdoor concert in the Southern hemisphere during the MOOMBA weekend. The concert, titled "Music for the People," featured the beloved Australian group, The Seekers, who had returned from the UK for a homecoming tour. Broadcast over Melbourne radio station 3DB, the event began at 3pm and was later joined by HSV7 at 4pm.
Compered by Geoff McComas, the concert showcased the Australian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Hector Crawford, along with performances from Glenda Raymond and the Royal Australian Navy Band. The Seekers captivated the audience with seven of their biggest hits, making this recording a historic moment in Australian music history.
