I really liked this story, and it was a very unusual set-up for a romance mystery. The young woman was sick to death of her life as a companion to an ungrateful older woman, so she took a dangerous chance on finding love with a stranger who needed help. The story starts in a stodgy old house in England, moves along to a magnificent mansion, lovely hotels, a cruise ship, a long train trip, and a Texas ranch on the Mexican border. Ruses, anger revenge, jealousy, loyalty, love, and the hope of forgiveness and reconciliation all play their parts in this novel.
Loved this story!

This one held my attention down to those last three words. All the readers did a great job. I love these old, well-written stories. There is no need for the sex and bad language of many of today's fiction. Librivox is my refuge, ha!
Good adventure story.

The adventure was fairly exciting. The characters were a bit shallow and opaque. Why did they do what they did? The authors don't seem to be much interested in that question- many character decisions had me baffled. Improbable, but a fun story. Well read.

oh! I think the ending could have been ended in a sweeter way. I don't know if it was the writer or the reader. It was going on soooo good until the gun shots. It was so nice to listen to Gesine
so entertaining !
