Secret history revealed by Lady Peggy O'Malley
Charles Norris Williamson and Alice Muriel Williamson
Read by John
"If, two years ago, when I was sixteen, I hadn’t wanted money to buy a white frock with roses on it, which I saw in Selfridge’s window, a secret crisis between the United States and Mexico would have been avoided; and the career of a splendid soldier would not have been broken.”

Reviews
Julia R
Great wartime story, mostly focusing on side issues rather than fighting: dysfunctional family, wartime sacrifices and sham sacrifices, a dastardly deed done to a soldier to gain an advantage in love, and a young woman trying to uncover the stolen honor of her secret love and wreak revenge on the perpetrator.
A LibriVox Listener
It seems the story ended in 1915, with three years of slaughter ahead and the male protagonist at the front ...... I like that yank lieutenant's chances.
Great story
