Well read... Interesting story of the rise and development of the labour political movement part way through the WW1... With a bit of romance thrown in for a good measure and good dialogue

Edward Phillips Oppenheim (1866-1946)", best-selling popular English novelist, in the thriller genre wroteThe Great Impersonation (1920). Though he published some of his earlier books under the pseudonym 'Anthony Partridge', Oppenheim soon became a well-known writer of short stories and many novels, some of which he also skilfully illustrated. There are parables of everyday life to be found in some; international espionage and intrigue in others. Well-dressed hedonists clash with Puritans in lush settings while libertine Playboys and world weary businessman lead lives of romance and adventure in the underworld. His heroes are sophisticated gastronomes, his spies always up for a challenge, and the noblemen always dashing in the Rogue tradition. This novel very well read. Representing the political views and mis conceptions of socialism with the feel good factor of humanity prevails during world war I espionage. There is the need for very detailed explanation of certain obvious concepts but so well read....

Another tale of WWI espionage from Oppenheim and once again we have both an exciting tale and an interesting insight into the minds of the author and his many readers almost a century ago. As ever feminists and socialists will have to block their ears at some points! The reader, as usual, does a fine job.
