Over the top Edwardian parody

I like to go into a book cold, knowing nothing about it if possible. So, it took a bit of time before I realized that this story was a fantasy. It reminded me of ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE. Every character is a fabulous exaggeration of his or her real world counterpart. Once I accepted the world Beerbohm created, I just sat back and enjoyed the ride! The reader is absolutely fabulous. If there is an Audible version of this book, it could not possibly be better. Be sure to listen to the name of the town the reader names as home at the end of this book. It sounds like a fairytale place itself! Don’t miss this book!!!
Save yourself, there is better use for your time than listening to this story. …

Save yourself, there is better use for your time. The reader is excellent. The story is ridiculous, the idea of every single man on earth falling at the feet of this one woman, and behaving so foolishly (“falling in love”) after simply seeing her once or meeting her once. A man may find a woman beautiful upon meeting her, and admire her and want to get to know her, but this story portrays all men as fools and besotted idiots. Thankfully in real life there are men with more sense than this.
amazing narration

Great fun-Zuleiika is a literary heroine of sorts and this is a zinger of a book. Special mention however of the narrator, who is absolutely perfect-I can't imagine an improvement. Even Stephen Fry would struggle to match him!
you gotta meet Zuleika!
