A murder whodunit...
Location: Hampstead, England.
Victim: Sir Horace Fewbanks, a distinguished High Court judge. Cause of death: gun shot wound.
Investigator: Private Detective Crewe, a wealthy bachelor who has taken up crime detection as a hobby, because it provides intellectual challenges more satisfying even than playing twelve simultaneous boards against Russian chess champion Turgieff.
His sidekick: Joe is a fourteen year old Cockney boy, whom Crewe saved from a life of crime by hiring him as a messenger-boy and shadower.
Other whodunit elements: clues galore, suspects in abundance, an inquest, a trial, and an elegant resolution. (Summary by Maikki) (0 hr 25 min)

Another edge of your seat book, and I loved it. A famouse judge is murdered. Private Inspector Crew (sp?) is hired by the daughter of the murdered man. But Scotland Yard is insulted by this and contrives to put Crew on a false scent, while building up their own case. This doesn't stop Crew, who continues his investigations and digs up plenty of evidence. But evidence leading to who? You will be guessing up until the last chapter. Enjoy!

This is a great mystery, plausible upon reflection but not easily guessed. It keeps you involved throughout and my husband and I stayed up late to finish. The readers were good, I love the accents of "Losh Rolander" who does the majority of the reading.
An exciting look into the Lives and Crimes of Edwardian England
I enjoyed this novel immensely. it is full of surprises and the characterisations are complete. It's not just an exciting story, it's a lesson in social history. I did find it dragged slightly in the middle. I thoroughly enjoyed Lars Rolander's reading, it was clear and easy to follow. Thanks to everyone involved.

FINALLY GOT THE GUILTY PARTY
AVID READER
Another intricate and compelling story by the co-authors. The twists and turns are as confusing to the readers they are to the police. This is a great example of the fine narration of Lars Rolander.
Harvey Jackson
A thoroughly enjoyable story with all of its twists and turns. The readers added much to the story and were enjoyable as well.

It didn't bore me but it did take a little bit of time to get into it. In the middle the story started to drag out some. Condensing the chapters to shorten the story would've improved it. While I wasn't hoping that the story would end soon I wasn't invested in it either.
