The Sorcery Club

Leon Hamar and his friends were out-of-work and starving in San Francisco after the firm they worked for went out of business. Leon acquired a strange book and some cash in a trade for his watch-chain, one of his last posessions. He hated books and had no intention of reading the thing, but of course did, and discovered that it told the tale of Atlantis and the society of sorcerers who inhabited it. It not only told the story, but also gave specific instructions for initiation into the black arts. The friends decided they had little to lose and perhaps much to gain, even survival, if they underwent the tests and initiation into the ancient Atlantean black arts. What followed was not, perhaps, what they expected. - Summary by Don W. Jenkins (9 hr 39 min)

Pretty Strange

(3 Sterne)

I appriciate the imagination and creativity of the author, but, the story arch is mighty flabby. Also, the protagonists read more like antagonists. The blackmailer returns to his friends and they ask, "Did you get the money?" And he replies, "I got the money AND everything I asked for", implying rape! Holy cow, did this author go to the Bill Cosby Charm School For Misogynists? Maybe if the author got some therapy, he would have been published more often. Great reading, though, with a lot of charm and notes of humor through out, thank you.

i simply love this book.

A fantastic blend of nature, love the supernatural & humerus dialogue. although very well read unfortunately the recording quality is pretty damn rubbish

I was very amused by the jealous cat in the background.

A good book and a good reader.

good story, but has some issues

(2 Sterne)

The storyline itself is pretty good. I really only had two issues with this selection. First, the reader does not do a good job with differentiating character voices, even the young women sound like witches to me. second, about halfway through the book, his cat wanders in and wants attention for at least five chapters so far. Dude, take the phone off the hook and put the cat elsewhere...it detracts from the storyline.

Probably the worst Librivox audio I've listened to so far.
