a good reading

(4 Sterne)

As has been noted, it is obvious that English is not the narrators first language. I would say however, that this does the story no harm - I think Lovecraft's stories benefit from unique readers. Unlike a prior reviewer, I did not find the story rushed by the narrator. I listened to this in the car on the way to work and thoroughly enjoyed it. With regard to the story (as opposed to the reader) I found this to be quite short and sweet - it would be a good intro for someone who has not read Lovecraft before.

decent reading

I'm an HPL fan anyway, so obviously, the story was fine by me. the only problem is the quality of the audio. it had a hollow(?) sound, but the perfectly "listenable"

H.P. Lovecraft read by an eager volunteer

Horrifyingly bad

As much as I appreciate the work of the volunteer that read this wonderful story, I feel that I need to dissuade people from this version. It's very clear that English is not his first language, with mispronounced words, awkward emphasis and a rushed reading style. I know some people will say that I shouldn't complain about a free audiobook, or to tell others not to read in a language they haven't mastered, but if you really love a story and want others to hear it, make sure it's done in the best way that will make them love it as well.
