Holmes is a man of many facets, and I do not share the common perception of Holmes as cold and humourless: his sense of fun can be sparkling, and there are moments of rare pathos. My first LibriVox listen and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ruth Golding's narration was phenomenal. Will definitely check out others she has read. Thanks to all involved for this entertaining and engaging audiobook.

Reading was both clear and engaging; half a star lost on account of Mrs Golding's manor in voicing characters, which I personally found a little grating. Only half a star because it is exceedingly difficult to do voices which so not. The book quite lives up to it's reputation, and has served for me as an exceedingly good introduction to detective fiction as a whole.
