Emma (version 3)
Jane Austen
Read by Elizabeth Klett

Jane Austen famously described Emma Woodhouse, the title character of her 1815 novel, as "a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like." Yet generations of readers have loved Emma, as much for her blunders as for her wit and vivacity. Emma, "handsome, clever, and rich," has nothing else to do but try to pair off her friends, and she consistently mis-reads the relationships and situations around her as much as she mis-reads her own heart. The novel features a wonderful cast of characters, including Emma's hypochondriac father, the odiously prideful Mrs. Elton, the mysterious and reserved Jane Fairfax, and Miss Bates, who never stops talking. (Summary by Elizabeth Klett). (14 hr 53 min)

Reviews
A heroine to shake your finger at!!

Jenifer C.
Jane Austen changes it up by presenting a heroine with huge faults. Such faults u almost want to hate her but for the fact that there are characters meaner then she. But as usual well written and well read. All works out in the end!!!
Delightful!

Emma just might be my new favorite work of Austen’s. I love the characters, the story line is excellent, and the book is full of the sparkling wit that characterizes Jane Austen. Not to mention Elizabeth Klett, who gave life to each character! Her narrating is delightful, I’m very grateful for her recording of Emma. Definitely recommend!

Elizabeth Klett brings Emma to life with her smooth and easy to listen to style of reading. She voices each character individually, making this story easy to fallow and one you can read again and again!

I'm in love with Elizabeth Klett's reading. The women's voices were especially well done. Everything was so vivid through Ms Klett's reading of it. I didn't think I would enjoy an audiobook and for a first, this was a wonderful experience. And what can I say about Emma? Austen might have thought nobody but her would like Emma, but Ms Woodhouse is too charming not to be liked. I do think I would have liked a little more Mr. Knightley, but this was a wonderful story ♡
A new favorite

I appreciate this wonderful reading very much! Jane Austin is so cleverly snarky in subtle language. She brings in a heroine who needs a little saving herself. I highly recommend if you enjoy people-watching or pleasant stories of embarrassing mix-ups.

When I first heard this American reader shift to a received English accent, I thought, oh, no. But she does a pretty good job with that, and has a real feeling for the characters, pace, and tone. A really enjoyable listen.
Great reading!

With any Jane Austen novel, I love when the audiobook is read by someone with an English accent. To have each character have their own unique voice really enhanced the story. Great pace, volume, and quality.

Elizabeth Klett does an excellent job of portraying the different personalities of the characters through her voices and inflections. Mrs. Elton and Harriet, in particular, are hilarious! I have enjoyed this reading better than ensemble casts I’ve heard.
